Cloud Cookies in Le Bon Marche's La Grande Epicerie Paris

Congratulations to my dear friend,
Tamalpais Roth McCormick, for scoring big time!
Her cookies have now arrived at the most chic department store in all of Paris.

In fact, here I was able to capture a photo of a gentleman making a purchase!
Off he went with his "Clouds"!

What a gorgeous display!  Bravo Pai!

Hotel Plaza Athenee Paris - Avenue Montaigne

Did you notice a striking resemblance to the
Flood Building in San Francisco?

It would be those fabulous red awnings.  Isn't that correct, Mr. Flood?

Thanksgiving in Paris

Michael and Jackie provided the oven for the turkey from the store entitled "Thanksgiving" and we celebrated with some fresh oysters and champagne beforehand.  Nick did a magnificent job of opening all 36 oysters!

Voila...all was good with the five of us!

A quick lunch at the Hotel du Nord on the Canal

Upon the suggestion of Pete Spriggs, Sarah and I jumped on the metro...

and enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the funky Hotel du Nord.

We wished we would have had more time to
explore but work was calling Sarah.

I will have to make time to return, for sure!

Place des Vosges on another sunny afternoon

The sun comes out and so do the natives.......what a day...
the International Herald Tribune tells me the high today in Paris is 55 degrees Fahrenheit.  Is it always this beautiful on November 22nd?

Vivant......a sweet wine bar in the 10th

Sarah and I had dinner last night at Vivant which is housed in an old bird shop with the most beautiful tiles of what else.....birds!

Another surprise around every corner....

St-Sulpice in the middle of the 6th - this Classical church
was built over 134 years to Daniel Gittard's plans.
It has a facade by the Italian architect Giovanni Servandoni.

Flamant Architectural and Design

Just for Larry's benefit, I wanted to include some photos of this lovely design studio next to the Delacroix Musee.

I think these must be some of their models????

A surprise around every corner....

Walking over Pont Louis Philippe one evening to
Michael and Jackie's on Ile de la Cite,
I came across quite a spectacle and that is all I can say.

If I were a guessing person, I have a feeling the owner of this novelty might have been protesting something...just not sure what.

Musee National Eugene Delacroix..... a place of serenity

Situated in the middle of the 6th, Delacroix's home/Musee
is just off Blvd Saint Germain.

Amazingly, when in the home/musee and garden,
one hears nothing but complete silence.

Sarah's beloved Pierre Herme macarons

The picture says it all....the obligatory stop was necessary for at least six different flavors.  Happily, she was willing to share.

Holiday windows at the famous Printemps department store

Evidently Karl Lagerfeld did the honors in designing this year's windows and on Saturday everyone was out to check them out.
They did not disappoint.

A combination of mohair and alpaca.....on a cold winter day!

For the benefit of my friend, Pat, I am posting a photo of my new winter coat.  I tried to describe my newest purchase because somehow everything I brought in the way of clothing other than a few items seems to be wrong.  In fact, those items are being shipped back.  Since the weather decided that it was actually winter, I found one of the warmest coats imaginable.

Lutece Langue

Every morning at 8:50 am I enter these hallowed doors on Sabastopol and work on my French for 1 and 1/2 hours.  I still have been know to say bon jour when I meant to say au revoir.......oh well, I knew it would not be easy.

Thank you Nancy Guthrie

Pam and Mark enjoying a lovely bottle of wine at Cafe des Musees in the Marais compliments of Judge Nancy.  She sent all of her unused
coins back to Paris with Mark.  Merci beaucoup, Nancy!
We wish you were here with us.

Folies Bergere...what a facade.....

We came upon the Folies Bergere building, 32, rue Richer, 75009 Paris, by chance on Saturday and found that the fascade is fortunately the original, unfortunately, not in great shape.  On the other hand, the interior has been completely renovated.  Performances are now held there on a regular basis.....Pilobolus from the U.S. soon to perform there this coming Spring.
What a history!

Anyone for a fish pedicure?

Exploring and hiking in the Montmartre, we discovered the Natural Fish Spa.

I wonder if my feet will feel better after all this walking with a fish pedicure.  I will let you know!

Le chat Beaujolais joins us at La Rotisserie du Beaujolais

He is 16 years old and has lived at La Rotisserie du Beaujolais
since he was 2 months old.

After we shared some of our delicious left over roasted chicken
with the permission of the maitre'd,
Beaujolais retired to the railing for a nap.

Sunning on the beach in Paris.....Jardin du Luxembourg

It doesn't take much for me to fall completely asleep
in the reclining chairs on a sunny day.

The daily protest in Paris

Standing at attention

This group was not liking the idea of an airport being built near the town of Nante which is located near the Atlantic near the estuaries of the Seine

Buddy D on a sunny Saturday on Pont Louis Philippe

Singin' Chattanooga Cho Cho caused us to stop in our tracks!

Roasting chestnuts near Jardin de Luxembourg

Leeanna purchased a bag of the freshly roasted marrons.......
we could not resist the smell....much different than
when I tried roasting them in my fireplace many years ago!

Saturday night at Les Pipos in the Latin Quarter

We went for dinner and the accordian music and were not disappointed!

Le Baron Rouge near Marche Aligre

Following a trip to Marche Aligre, Leeanna and I stopped at Le Baron Rouge.....a funky funky wine bar that is usually so busy one cannot make it through the door.....lucky us we made it in this time for a late lunch.

If one is so inclined, you can also bring your empty wine bottle here  and get it filled with your choice of regional wine for a very nominal price.

I use the term "late lunch" loosely....late lunch means standing at the bar with the local clientele sipping some regional wine and ordering an assiettte of charcuterie

The Metropolitan on Rue de Jouy in Village de Saint Paul

Leanna ordered Soupe de Homard (lobster) et su toasts

and Blaquette de Lotte (monkfish) et ses petits legumes

I, on the other hand, ordered Fois gras poche au vin des cochienes,
date et citron confits

and Supreme de Volaille (poultry) fermiere, mouseline au Potrien (pumpkin)

Just when you think winter has arrived....

then you walk by Vertige on rue de Sevigne and smile and decide that you must return for your next flower arrangement!

Musee Carnavalet.....History of Paris

What a jardin...what a courtyard.....oh, la, la!

The history inside is as interesting as the courtyard is beautiful.

A cold and misty evening walk along the Seine

Leeanna arrived and we were bundled up for a long evening's
walk along the river...misty and magical!

Memories.....Au Bascou with MJ

My mom and I dined here many years ago......

Now that I am inside enjoying my dejeuner I know for sure and remember clearly our time here and where we sat.  Tres bien just as before.

Sunday, November 6th.....the first wintry day

A stormy sky and blustery winds over Pont Louis Philippe
